WINTER SKIN CHECKLIST
It's that time of year when the emails are buzzing with customers frantic that their faces are 'AGING'!! I usually end up sticking a super power serum I've made on them and voila the lines have magically disappeared.
I assure them that usually if their forehead has more lines than the rest of their face, it is likely a sign of dehydration.
The Tuesday Tips blog is already chock full of everything you need to know about combating dry skin (home masks, etc), so I've only included a checklist below.
Why Dry Skin?
-Lack of humidity in the air or too much dry air from heaters
-Lack of drinking water (remember half your weight in oz)
-Lack of essential fats (usually the biggest culprit)
-Using TOO much moisturizer at night (body stops producing its own moisture)
-Too much winter weather exposure
-Long, hot baths and showers (strips the skin of its oils or causes collagen loss)
-Cleansing with harsh soaps (ruins the pH and strips oil)
-Using creams with alcohol in them (alcohol is drying)
Ways to Remedy Dry Winter Skin:
-Don't take long, hot showers and baths
-Eat a tablespoon of coconut butter a day either by itself, in shakes....just make sure you don't heat it.
-Use a humidifier
-Stay away from creams with alcohol in them
-Use creams as a barrier from weather INSTEAD of relying on them for moisture at night.
-Make sure you get all of your essential fats (Omegas 220.127.116.11.9)
-Use more natural products that don't contain petrol chemicals that never allow your skin to get moisture or drying alcohol
And one completely separate winter tip: Don't forget to get your Vitamin D either from some sun, Micellized D3 drops or M.S. Apothecary's Vitamin D cream to help keep up your immune system through the winter. More on that later!
